Where do you see yourself in five years?
Type-A Manhattan lawyer Dannie Kohan has been in possession of her meticulously crafted answer since she understood the question. On the day that she nails the most important job interview of her career and gets engaged to the perfect man, she’s well on her way to fulfilling her life goals.
That night Dannie falls asleep only to wake up in a different apartment with a different ring on her finger, and in the company of a very different man. The TV is on in the background, and she can just make out the date. It’s the same night – December 15th – but 2025, five years in the future.
It was just a dream, she tells herself when she wakes, but it felt so real… Determined to ignore the odd experience, she files it away in the back of her mind.
That is, until four and a half years later, when Dannie turns down a street and there, standing on the corner, is the man from her dream…
In Five Years is a love story, brimming with joy and heartbreak. But it is definitely not the love story you’re expecting.

I finished this book last month and it wasmy five star read of February! I loved every single chapter and highly recommend it to everyone who haven’t ordered it yet or add to a wish list!
Before reading this book, I was reading so many good reviews and seeing everyone on twitter and instagram loving the book. I knew I had to read it and see if it was worth the hype, and believe me it is !
There was many warnings on how it is not the ending you thought there would be and lots of people was crying at the ending. And I was of the many people who didn’t see the ending coming (which I normally can in books and TV shows).
Dannie has the next five years of her life planned out with both work and personal life milestones to complete. After completing two stepping stones to her future life – job promotion and getting engaged, she lays down to soak it all in and then wakes up in a very surreal dream one night, with a stranger who is someone she knows a lot more than she could imagine. After waking up and feeling unsettled she just plods on with her life and carries on her five year plan.
Now here is the plot twist, four and a half years later she is meeting her best friends new boyfriend, and surprising it’s the man from Dannie’s dream all them years ago. Fast forwarding a few months, Dannie’s five-year plan is spiralling out of control. Illness and incurable cancer, relationships ending and making new friends. You soon realise the relationship is not a romantic kind but more of a unbreakable friendship.
The book is released in hardback and e-book copy’s next Tuesday so go and pre order it In Five Years Buy it Here
